The ACM Story
Architectural Carpentry Materials (ACM) began on April Fools Day 1973 in an office attached to the family garage. Ben B. Calvary is the founder and his wife Dorothy played a significant role in its success through her behind-the-scenes management.
Ben began his career in the lumber business in October 1947. He found it to be his true calling. Finding high quality lumber and associated goods gives him great satisfaction. Many of his vacations have been spent visiting saw mills and shake mills of the Pacific Northwest as well as other areas of the country.
When Ben started ACM, his business plan was to provide windows, doors, and specialty molding to builders. It didn’t take long, though, for his customers to start requesting framing lumber, and Ben was there to meet their needs. Soon the specialty business became a full fledged lumberyard, providing high quality service to contractors and others in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.
ACM moved to its current location off of Denton Drive, near Love Field, in 1980.
In September 2021, ACM joined the Davis-Hawn Lumber Company family and is ready to serve your building needs!
